You know what’s good about squirrels being in your yard? Nuttin’! Squirrels are a nuisance, especially if they’re hanging out in your yard or garden. If you’re struggling with these little pesky rodents, here are 5 ways to get rid of squirrels in your yard.
Squirrels love nuts, berries, seeds, and certain plants, so to make your yard less attractive to them it’s helpful to remove these food sources. This might mean removing certain trees or plants in your yard.
There are a couple of plants and flowers that squirrels absolutely can’t stand. A few of those include:
• Daffodils
• Chili peppers
• Peppermint
• Geraniums
Pets are usually the easiest way to scare off squirrels disturbing your yard, but if you don’t have pets, using fake birds, motion-activated noise-makers, and sprinklers will also do the trick.
Squirrels love to dig, so a great way to prevent them from digging through your yard is to cover areas with mulch.
Feeders = squirrels. That’s the bottom line. If squirrels are an ongoing problem in your yard it may be helpful to remove feeders or strategically consider where they are located.
